First Weekend is over:

Well, the first weekend is over...i was not as good as i would have wanted to be...did go out to eat twice...Friday night and Saturday night but i didn't snack and i ate sensibly all weekend.  I also was able to get to the Gym on Saturday and did some good cardio.  I plan on going to the Gym tonight after work so i will see if my above thinking was right or not.

Didn't have a chance to eat any breakfast this morning (need to get some oatmeal at the store!)  and i am having White Rice and Chicken bites for lunch with a couple animal cookies (i think that is what they are called?)  Dinner should be interesting tonight since the wife has a tastefully simple meeting to go to.  Guess we'll see what happens.

Friday is finally here!

Now that we have our little guy, our nights can get very busy.  So i think it is reasonable that missed at an appointment with the Gym...A good friend of mine who was meeting me at the gym...figured otherwise...So i got myself to the gym as soon as we were able to get our little guy down.  and Man do i feel good that i did.  It also doesn't hurt that the scale was a -2 down to 358.  So that is something to be happy about.

So now comes the weekend my first test to not ruin the progress i made this week.  Let's hope i do it.  I don't plan on blogging on the weekends  so my next update will be Monday.

Typical Thursday:

Day 4 of this new diet approach and i am still going strong...Watching what i eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and not snacking. I am hoping that i keep seeing the results of this on the scale.  I need to get back to the Gym and work up a sweat again...I find that it is a great way to release any frustrations i am carrying with me.  I am wondering if i should change up my lunch again next week, just to keep everything fresh.

Did some quick math...if i continue to lose 5 pounds a week for the next 52 weeks i would weigh 100 lbs?  Don't worry i know that is not going to happen...but it is a funny way to look at it.  I'll be very happy when the first number of my weight is not >= 3. (here is a if then statement for that)

I am not really sad about my weight right now but i will be happy then i hit the else part of the formula above.

At least Tuesday night was good:

Well I did get to the Gym on Tuesday night.  And i was a bit apprehensive when I stepped on the scale.  The number that i saw actually shocked me a little...360!  So evidently i lost 5 pounds over the last week.  This is at least a good start.  Hopefully i can keep it rolling over the next several weeks and I can build up some momentum with some more positive results.

Keys to Victory:
Elliptical Machine - It is a very low impact machine that builds up quite a bit of sweat.  After 30 minutes on it I am drenched.
Snacking - No snacking after work (before dinner) or after dinner before bed.
Reasonable Serving sizes - I don't plan on cutting out breads or snack food (carbs etc...)  But i do plan on making sure i am reasonable in how much i eat!

Tuesday

Tuesday is being Tuesday...

Let me explain my theory to you. Tuesday is the worst day of the week and here is why.  Monday gets all the notoriety for being a horrible day. Wednesday is hump day and means you are only 1/2 the way through your week.  Thursday is almost Friday so it is semi-good...and Friday is the best day of the work week.  This leaves us Tuesday.  No one thinks about Tuesday...it kind of sneaks up on you.  But the thing about Tuesday is that it is evil!  Tuesday thinks Monday is a wimp.  Tuesday is jealous of Friday. Tuesday thinks Wednesday complains to much.  Tuesday dislike Thursday because of it's location near Friday.  This has made Tuesday evil...and is why you should be scared of Tuesday...i know i am.

Now to the point of this blog...had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, 1 serving of cheese curls (about 26 curls) a ham salad sandwich and some cranberries for lunch...not sure what is for dinner will find out later today...I am going to try to hit the gym this evening do a little work on the elliptical machine...try to sweat off about 400 - 500 calories.

Day 1: An Average Monday

Today was not to bad...bowl of cereal in the morning (Fruit Loops). Ham Salad sandwich, small portion of cheese puffs and some dried cranberries for lunch. Cheeseburger soup and Cherry-Doctor Pepper Bread (My Wife sells Tastefully Simple, so the bread is supposed to be with beer but we substitute Soda) for Dinner...Most importantly i didn't snack after work, which is saying something for me.

Did not get to the Gym...I am having a difficult time finding time to get there consistently...  I know it is only 45 min to an hour so i need to pick a time and make it part of my habit...

Chapter 1: Change of Habits

I have often heard that it takes 30 days to changes ones habits...and once you change your habits they will stay changed forever...Not sure if this is true or not, but we will find out.

I normally don't do things like this...I have never been one to blog or express myself online very much...but this is something that I have felt myself drawn to do.  If you are reading this and if you decide to continue to follow this blog hopefully you will witness a change in a person that few go through.  My plan is to get myself under 300 lbs within the next year...so i have to lose 65 lbs in 365 days or 1.24 lbs every 7 days. My long-term goal is 265...but i am not thinking of that quite yet.

What is my reason for doing this?  Frankly it is my Son...My wife and I had a baby boy 7 months ago and I want to lose the weight for him.  I realize that i am not getting any younger and that my years of eating what I want and not paying for it are over...actually my brain about 7 years late to the party that my body has been at since 2002.

So what you are reading here is blog post # 1.  I am going to try to blog at least once per day most likely during my lunch (half) hour at work...So let's see if i can make some change in my body and ultimately my life.
